Arranging a Muscle Doctor knee-brace fitting: what to expect

How to start your fitting enquiry, what is useful to discuss and which arrangements to confirm before purchasing a knee brace.

CTi Custom knee brace

You do not need to know the name of a brace before getting in touch. You might be comparing two products, exploring an option mentioned by your clinician or simply trying to understand how a custom brace purchase works.

The starting point at Muscle Doctor is clear: all knee braces must be fitted by our team, so please contact us before purchasing. We can discuss suitability, explain your options and arrange your fitting. This guide helps you prepare for that first conversation without assuming you already know the process.

Begin with what you would like help with

Use our contact page or the WhatsApp button below to send a short enquiry. Say that you are interested in a knee brace, and mention a model if you have one in mind. If you are still comparing options, that is a useful place to start too.

It can help to describe the activities that matter to you: walking, working on your feet, getting outdoors or taking part in sport. You do not need to turn that first message into a detailed medical history. Start with the question you want answered and ask what information the team needs next.

If your enquiry relates to an existing order, include the order number so it is easier to identify the purchase.

Understand the product you are discussing

Two custom options in the Muscle Doctor range are CTi Custom and DonJoy Defiance PRO. CTi Custom is made to measure. For Defiance PRO, the product listing explains that Muscle Doctor uses its measurement device and system.

You can ask what “custom” means for the proposed product, which options are being considered and how those choices affect the order. If you have seen a particular colour, accessory or configuration, send the product link and ask whether it is available for the brace being discussed.

Bring any relevant advice from your clinician into the conversation. Choosing equipment and deciding whether it is appropriate for your circumstances are connected questions, and a product photograph cannot answer both.

Your fitting, price and location

Fitting is free of charge and included in the complete brace price. Your fitting service is provided by Muscle Doctor at The Quarry Health and Fitness, The Weighbridge, 41 Church Town, Backwell, BS48 3JF.

Custom knee braces usually take around four weeks from measuring. When your brace is ready, we will arrange your finished-brace fitting. Ready-made braces follow a different availability and fitting timeline, which we will confirm with you.

Contact us to arrange your visit before travelling. Useful questions include:

  • What information is needed before arranging measurement or fitting?
  • Is there anything you should bring or have available?
  • Which brace specification and accessories are being discussed?
  • What is included in your proposed order and what is the complete price?

If travel, work commitments or a particular date matter, mention them when making your enquiry. The four-week custom-brace lead time is an estimate; plan around the arrangements confirmed for your order. See our fitting page for the next steps.

Make a short list of everyday questions

Technical specifications are easier to understand when connected to the way you expect to use the product. You might want to ask about the proposed brace with your usual clothing, what accessories are being discussed, or which care instructions apply.

Write down anything you want explained about putting on the brace, its straps and routine care. Ask for the appropriate product instructions and make sure you know who to contact if you have a question after receiving it. There is no need to guess how a feature works from an image online.

Confirm the details before purchasing

Before placing an order, make sure you understand the model, side, configuration, included items and total price. Keep the relevant product details and any agreed arrangements together so you have a clear reference.

You can start with a simple message: “I’d like to discuss a knee brace and arrange a fitting. Could you explain the options and what you need from me?” The next step is a conversation, with room to ask the practical questions that matter to you.
