Buying a custom knee brace: costs, measurements and fitting

A practical guide to comparing prices, confirming what is included and arranging measurement and fitting before you buy a custom knee brace.

CTi Custom knee brace

A custom knee brace is a purchase worth understanding before you commit. The product price is one part of the decision. You also need clarity on the specification, measurements, fitting arrangements and any additional items you are considering.

At Muscle Doctor, all knee braces must be fitted by our team. Please contact us before purchasing. This guide helps you prepare for that conversation, whether you already have a model in mind or are exploring the options for the first time.

How much do custom knee braces cost?

The following Muscle Doctor product prices were checked on 13 October 2026:

These are dated product-page prices. Follow the links for the current price and confirm the total for your proposed order with Muscle Doctor. An online figure should not be treated as an itemised quote for every configuration, accessory or service you might discuss.

Fitting is free of charge and included in the complete brace price at Muscle Doctor. We will confirm the model, configuration and any optional accessories with you before you order, so you know the complete price for your chosen brace.

What makes a brace custom?

Custom describes how the product is specified for the individual; it is not simply another size on a size chart. CTi Custom is a made-to-measure brace. The Defiance PRO listing explains that Muscle Doctor uses its measurement device and system for this custom product.

For a buyer, the practical next step is to arrange the appropriate measurement process with the team. Do not assume that sending a clothing size or choosing “left” or “right” completes the information needed for an order. Ask what information is required for the particular brace you are considering.

Prepare useful questions before measurement

You do not need to arrive knowing the technical terms. A short note about your priorities makes it easier to explain what you are looking for. Consider:

  • Which everyday activities or sports you want to discuss.
  • Whether you are enquiring about one knee or both.
  • The name of a brace you have seen, if you have a preference.
  • Any existing advice from your clinician that is relevant to the discussion.
  • Questions about clothing, accessories, care or the practicalities of the proposed brace.

These are conversation prompts, not a measurement form or a way to establish suitability yourself. You can begin with a simple enquiry and ask the team what is needed next.

Confirm the order details in plain language

Before making a purchase, ask for a clear understanding of the proposed model, side, configuration and total cost. If there is a choice of finish or accessory, check the exact option and whether it is included. Keep a note of the agreed specification so you can refer to it later.

Where fitting takes place and how long a custom brace takes

Muscle Doctor provides fitting at The Quarry Health and Fitness, The Weighbridge, 41 Church Town, Backwell, BS48 3JF. Arrange your fitting with us before travelling.

Custom braces usually take around four weeks from measuring. We will arrange your finished-brace fitting when it is ready. This is an estimated custom-order lead time, separate from dispatch times for in-stock therapy products. If timing matters to you, tell us before ordering so we can confirm the arrangements for your brace.

Start with a conversation

The Muscle Doctor contact page explains the next step: get in touch before purchasing to discuss suitability, options and fitting. You can ask about costs without already deciding between CTi Custom and Defiance PRO.

A useful first message is: “I’m considering a custom knee brace. Could you explain the options, what the total would include and how measurement and fitting are arranged?” That gives us a clear place to start.
